DNA Profiling, Parentage Testing And Identification
DNA profiling (also called DNA fingerprinting or DNA typing) is the process of determining
an individual's DNA characteristics, called a DNA profile, which is very likely to be unique to individuals as are fingerprints. DNA fingerprinting is a laboratory method of interpretation of highly variable elements within the base-pair sequence of DNA, known as minisatellites, which do not contribute to the functions of genes. Each individual has a unique pattern of minisatellites.
DNA profiling is most commonly used as a forensic technique in criminal investigations, in parentage testing, in genealogical research or medical research.
DNA expertise is currently the most advanced and accurate technology to determine parentage and identification.
